Football is back! Message board reactions to the Thursday night games.

Worst qb play in 30 years
Horrible.

This really is as bad as I have ever seen. There is no defense of Newton after tonight.

He looks completely lost! Deer in headlights. Playing like a 3rd string High School kid. Going to be one of the longest seasons in years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get used to him because Joker is as stubborn as Brooks and will die on the sword rather than cut his losses and go with Smith or Bookie.

it was
tureeeeble

Whats even scarier is that apparently - hes the best option UK has at that position.

Struggling to see how it is that ANY sec coach could stick with Newton when ANY other option is available.

the disgust on this board is totally justified

This should no be tolerated. It must stop. UK fans don't deserve this crap

On both sides it looked like a High School game!

I wonder how good UK could recruit Ohio with Tressel as head coach?

Phillip Fulmer is tan, rested, and ready. He'll be good for 7-8 wins a season at Kentucky. That just wasn't good enough at Tennessee.

This is a multiple choice question with only one correct answer and it's Mike Leach

I'll go one further and say our DLine was not as dominate in this game as it should have been...I agree with you in that our lines being outplayed by a Sun Belt conference team is a huge red flag!!! The most disturbing aspect of the game indeed!

Man, I dont even know where to begin. I guess the coaching staff. So much for all the depth and improvement in recruiting the last few years. We simply dont have much talent. Thats on the staff.

Our offense is horrible and we have to play in the SEC. The o-line couldn't open up holes against Western. They couldn't pass block.

Like the doctor told my mother on the day I was born "It's going to get UGLY!!!"

I hate being a negative nellie, but you have to speak the truth. There are plenty of good college coaches out there. It's time to pay someone to elevate this program. We have the conference affiliation, stadium and practice facilities to compete. The fans should demand better.

I'm sick and tired of UK being so inept on the field.

"this program needs an enema."
That might just be the line of the night. Now if we could just get Jack Nicholson to say it.

The thing that shocked me was the sheer lack of talent that appeared to be on the field (except for 2 or 3 guys on defense). The Cats just don't pass the eye test, as far as SEC caliber athletes.

I would rather the Coach show some intensity and give feedback depending on what is going on in the game. It looks like Joker manages and lets his assistants do the work.

I'm not so sure...finally Cat fans and card fans agree on something....we both sucked it up. That chit we saw last night was aweful, wish it had not been televised. Though a real football fan would not have watched very long.

The UL-UK game may be one of the ugliest games of the year in college football.

Look, I have never played football and I have nothing personally against guys like Roark and La'Rod (who both could be great receivers)...but I can't help wonder just what goes on during all those workouts and pass catching sessions. These guys seem to completely lack the ability to fight for the ball and haul them in against even the slightest amount of pressure.

Unfortunately The Pundits Have It Right We are worse than last year. This is the worst football team I have ever seen.

That was the worst football I have ever seen. We suck beyond belief.

It went over the total. That's all that matters to me.

645 yards, 9 yards per play....

Some people tried to warn you...most didn't want to hear.

I knew we wouldn't be able to play man up against them because we are lacking physically. What I saw was a bunch of dorks jerking around on the field getting motion penalties and letting receivers get behind them in bad coverage.

We suck. End of debate.

It's not being outmanned it's the mental mistakes that get me. Not lining up correctly ON THE FIRST TWO PLAYS! DBs TURN AROUND!!! Stuff like that!

If we had just been manhandled that would be fine. Poor execution and constant penalties in the first half is another story. My son's pee wee team is better at lining up without doing it in an illegal formation or jumping.

Someone else said this earlier, "it looks like we practiced an illegal formation all pre-season".
I think this is closer to the truth than people want to believe.

Remain calm. All is well. All is well! We're going to the Big XII, remember?

Yep, the refs made us look bad and jesus made us fumble. I got it now.

While I was there last night, I don't blame anyone for not going to Tiger football games right now. We are embarrassingly bad, not competitive, not entertaining, not fundamentally sound.

You almost have to be a masochist to enjoy going to the games now.

This team sucks - again.

Enough said.

Yep and so does our entire sports program. Wait tell you see how sad our basketball team will be again.
God this coaching staff sucks so much

that has to be quite possible the biggest choke I've ever seen

The coaches are who choked. DISGRACEFUL COACHING JOB.

Makes that decision to forgo buying season tickets seem prudent.

How many times over the years have I seen Wake just stop playing and hand it to the other team - well t+1 now

What sport is left to pull for...

Definitely glad I didn't buy into the PSL hype after the 2006 season. Saved me a ton of cash.

Everyone on here is like all the students I witnessed tonight!   Parents are  paying for them to go to WFU!!  As they were spending parents dollars for draft beers, they ask what the score was, who was the starting QB!!??  Then, after we lose a heartbreaker they all have the answers to football and FIRE THE COACHING STAFF!!

Grobe's "nice guy" mentality cost us again- let's step on the other team's neck and run up the damn score when given the opportunity!   Just pathetic not to try to score at the end of the half and end of regulation.  NICE GUYS FINISH LAST MR. GROBE!

When the sideline loses its nerve I have a very difficult time getting excited about the good play or sideline calls in other parts of the game.  You can never lose your nerve in this game and the sideline did when Price went down.   If you lose your nerve in reaction to the QB going down you send the biggest message to your team and this coach just doesn't believe that.  He is too worried about all the things that can go wrong that he misses all the things that can go right.  You cannot tell me the team collapsed on their own.  They didn't collapse in a vacuum.  The "wilting," as Dan Collins referred to it, started on the sidelines.

FACT of Life in College Football:  Grobe has one or two more games with this team and if he doesn't make it happen they'll all be chasing butterflies on the gridiron, and I may not like it but that is what happens these days

Fire this coaching staff.

They are losers.

NO BALLS , NO EXCITMENT, NO EXCUSE

yea this playing to maybe be close to maybe win is getting real old.....

That really hurt me down to my Deacon Core........  wow just wow !!!!!!!

I don't know about firing, but it is obvious that the coaching staff doesn't have the same ability that led Wake to a championship in 2006. Seems like a steady decline.

No balls!  I am starting to believe they need to go.  If they had run the GD ball more at the beginning of the 2nd quarter, this game would be over.  Damn - this was a stupid loss.  Oh, btw Bunting sucks.  F UNC.

Complete CHOKE job on the Defense and coaches. Stick the punter under the field and roll over him with a tank.

Love the co-defensive coordinator scam. Great work guys!

This one hurts! The crappy kicking game frustrates me more than anything. A close second is that I can't understand how our coaches think our punter is capable of doing the job. Also, who evaluates and picks the qb depth chart? Do we really think we can win punting like that? Did we just hope that our backup qb would never have to play? Luckily, i've seen this rodeo before so it doesn't hurt quite like it used to.

Duped again for the 100th time. Had some reserved hopes for this season but needed a win tonight. Welcome to another year of under 500 Wake football. I am sure hoops will be much netter...Not!

It's the same stuff year after year. Not being aggressive in the red zone, not trying to score at the end of halves, playing (hoping) that the other team will make a mistake rather than trying to win the game. It's the definition of insanity.

It was worth watching to the end, unlike most games last year.

They look scared out of their mind....except for the one dancing.

Still would like to see our guys looking over their playbooks and scouting reports. Like Derek Thompson said, "We weren't prepared enough for this game"

If any of us are really shocked about our performance thus far, it's out of looking through rose colored lenses. As enthusiastic as we are, we have to understand the reality that we're dealing with a group of kids that have no confidence once things start to go south.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you need to raise your expectations. No excuses.

This is FIU, not Alabama. There is no reason why we shouldn't have at least as good of a team as last year, and we shouldn't have to expect a huge step back.

Honestly, take the first quarter out of the situation, the team was barely able to warm up because of the storms having to send them back to the locker rooms.

After respectable performances against Clemson, K-State, and Troy last year I guess I expected us not to get worse.

Get real people. No matter the circumstances we should never be down to a SBC team 28-0 after one quarter.

Dude, we gave been getting trucked by SBC schools for 6 straight years--looks like a 7th is well on it's way.

So how long are we going to be allowed to blame Dodge?

It's really too bad for Dunbar. I bet he would have liked to have some blocking. I only remember one play where he actualy had a hole to run through! O-line looks terrible!

Some of ya'll have this whole season figured out, and all we've seen is one game. I'm impressed.

olen surprised me by missing both fgs...he only missed 2 all of last year

You don't beat a bully by begging him not to hit you, you beat a bully by punching him in the mouth. We didn't throw an offensive punch the whole first half.

I was hoping for a win, but not expecting it. I wasn't expecting the loss to be this staggering, though.

So if we finish #120 we get the top overall pick for next year's recruits right?

on the brightside, Nova won the fan battle...
Temple brought their standard 15,000 fans.
Nova brought 18,000 fans.
Just like last year.

It's ashame that 'nova will be back to playing in front of their grandmoms and aunts for the rest of the season.

At least no shutout

VU starters scored on the TU backups but they definitely deserved one.

If nothing else, this butt-kicking should firm up the Administration's commitment to make the upgrade happen. No excuses for losing this way to Temple, but it's time to stop playing games against FBS teams with one arm tied behind our back.

critical breakdowns on too many plays resulted in A ROUT.

have the leaders emerged on this team and who are they?

about as bad as it can get.
ouch

VU Coaching staff has made a huge mistake skipping over very talented upperclassman who worked hard and waited their "turn" and have helped program win a National Title. Instead, skipped over them and played 9-10 True Freshman and have decided to play High School players in our opener against very experienced Temple team. Makes one wonder if they have written off upper classman and willing to sacrifice a season or two to give experience to players obviously not physically ready.

Looks like a disappointing season is head of us.

My Point; Anytime coaches make a decision to start or play so many 18 year old freshman at this level makes one wonder what are they thinking? Tonight's game proved that some of these athletes are not yet ready and perhaps could of taken a redshirt to develop in size and maturity.

I hope that the lesson learned from tonight is that every player has a shot at becoming the next starter cause not too many positions are solid.

This is all on the shoulders of the o

I hate to say it, but we seemed very much intimidated. The guys seem to have relaxed a bit.
Our speed would really improve with a haircut or two. I cannot even read the numbers. Swimmers shave their bodies to improve their speed, don't they?

lookin tired. They have played really well, especially on D, tonight. All heart for our guys. I am proud.
I sure wish I hadn't been so sure of a win. No, that's not right. There are no moral victories.

If the vertical passing game isn't working then this kind of offense just doesn't work against a BCS defense.

21-9 given the way we played is a great score. It could/should have been a lot worse.

we should have play uk, they are horrible. this could be joker's last year.

Our Special Teams absolutely killed us with the fake punt, dropped punt, missed extra point, no return yards worth mentioning, and L'ville beginning near mid field on every kick off.
