USC fans know a thing or two about being a PAC team in hot water

Can you say...CHIP IS DONE!

Goodbye, and good night, Chip.Lyles insists Oregon did not make a direct request or payment to steer recruits to Eugene. However, he now says Oregon did not pay him for his work as a traditional scout, but for his influence with top recruits and their families and his ability to usher prospects through the signing and eligibility process. That dual role as mentor to prospects and paid contractor to Oregon is believed to be a focus of the NCAA probe.
“I look back at it now and they paid for what they saw as my access and influence with recruits,” Lyles said. “The service I provided went beyond what a scouting service should … I made a mistake and I’m big enough of a man to admit I was wrong.”

Oregon is screwed. I will be shocked if Kelly survives this.
He is officially admitting to being a booster with his statements. The fact that he admits that Chip Kelly scrambled to get the payment together all but buries the Chiprocrit.

Holy cow. Willie just drove the bus over Oregon.

This portion is troubling, and makes you wonder how serious the NCAA REALLY was in investigating this case from the get-go.
Lyles said he spoke with NCAA enforcement staffers for six hours in early May as part of their ongoing investigation. He said he didn’t reveal the stories concerning Kelly, James and Seastrunk to investigators because the specific topics never came up in questioning.
Huh?
What the hell did they talk about for six hours if every nuance of James and  Seastrunks relationship with Lyles and Oregon wasn't broached?

The NCAA was trying its best to close its eyes..Whatcha gonna do NCAA??

I think that's quite the understatement.  Lyles is a hustler trying to make easy money.  Oregon's AD is a large entity with multiple people paid specifically to make sure that things like this don't happen.  Not only did they fail to do that, said people were actually complicit in making it happen.
Happy 4th, Chip.  Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he doesn't even survive the month.

The NCAA may have unwittingly given Chip enough rope to hang himself.
Kelly just committed the sin of omission, one Yahoo is making sure the NCAA doesn't ignore.

Are the emails from Oregon's compliance office trying to get Seastrunk to get his granny to sign the docs also forged (kind of like forging LOIs by UO coaches?)

The fact he hasn't played a single down will not save Kelly's skin or stop any penaties for recruiting violations.

The complicity shown throughout the Oregon athletic department should lead most reasonable people to conclude that Oregon's willingness to violate NCAA bylaws is a systemic problem.
That's probably the most damaging aspect of this entire case. Not being able to have a fall guy puts the entire program in the crosshairs of the NCAA.

Welcome to the SEC....Oregon and USC....maybe a few more schools can pony up and win some championships.

As ugly as this is now...it's just going to get uglier.

The media is going to be relentless...until Chip Kelly is fired.

You've got blatant cheating, and a sloppy effort at coverup. You've got multiple coaches involved, even an asistant AD.  You've got a paper trail of thousands of phone calls and written notes that can't be explained away. You've got a recruiting service that admits it wasn't providing recruiting information.  No telling what Kelly and others are already on record as stating to the NCAA.  I suspect that  'playing dumb' isn't going to work with the NCAA.  Oregon is toast.

I feel bad for the innocent victims: Lache Seastrunk, LaMichael James, and all the current/future Oregon players who might have to pay for this.  I feel bad for Oregon fans.  I feel bad for Phil Knight (not really).

Willie Lyles is what he is, and he didn't break any laws.  He may well have have the best interests of the kids (and himself) at heart. Can't blame a guy for doing what he does. This is all on Kelly and Oregon.

You'd have to be a pretty stupid individual not to admit that the following occurred....
a)  Liles secured Seastrunk for Oregon
b)  Oregon figured out a way to pay him $25,000 to do just that.
Spin it any way you like, but that's what happened.  I can't see any way that Kelly survives this.  This is far worse than what Tressel did.

Doesn't matter if he's a terrorist! The NCAA will believe whoever they choose... Im happy because it happened to somebody else but then I'm not because it still sucks ... Sorry Oregon y'all are screwed.. & the countdown to the decommits & transfers starts in 5..4...

at least Joey Harrington got elected to the Holiday Bowl HOF before this info came out...happy 4th...

Every time a big story breaks Chip is out of town. Even during the middle of the season/ Where does he go?
